Buda Historic Home and Garden
Buda was built in 1861 and from 1863 was the home of noted silversmith Ernest Leviny and his family. Complete with the family’s art and craft collections, furnishings and domestic effects, and set in 1.8 hectares of enchanting gardens, Buda is a unique record of this creative family who occupied it for the period of 118 years and conveys the feeling of a living house and garden in an authentic way.
Victorian Goldfields Railway
Victorian Goldfields Railway trains run between Maldon and Muckleford on the former Victorian Railways Castlemaine to Maldon Broad-Gauge Branchline.
Goldfields Heritage and Eco Tours
Entity Goldfields Discovery Tours currently offer a variety of Goldfields Heritage & Eco Tours visiting various historic Goldfields’ sites in the Box Ironbark Forests of the Castlemaine Diggings National Heritage Park, the Maldon Historic Reserve and the Mount Alexander Regional Park.
Castlemaine Historical Society
The Castlemaine Historical Society was formed in 1965 to study, record and promote the historical heritage of Castlemaine and District. It operated for many years from temporary premises in various locations. In 1996 the Society was granted a lease to its present home in the historic Former Court House.
